What is HOFTEL?
HOFTEL is a by-invitation-only network/alliance of hospitality property investors – the only one which is both international and multi-operator. Today, we have over 70 members and subscribers, controlling well in excess of US$ 90 billion in hospitality real estate. We work to represent the disparate owners of hotels and provide them with a voice as a distinct industry sector.
HOFTEL members include virtually every type of hotel and serviced apartment real estate investor. We have billion-dollar funds and small family offices, REITs and developers, specialist hotel owning groups and sovereigns. Some members receive rents from third party operators, many of them have management agreements and an increasing number operate their own properties under franchise or with their own brands. Hotels under the HOFTEL umbrella range from flags like Aman, Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton to Ibis and Citizen M. What our members have in common is a belief that the sector faces unprecedented challenges (the scaling up of the big brand companies, the rise of the OTAs and the sharing economy) and that working together brings benefits that far outweigh the costs.
Hotel Owners’ Journal
The Hotel Owners’ Journal is HOFTEL’s quarterly newsletter, packed with tips for owners, industry news and insightful comment. It is available only to members and sponsors. It contains news updates, articles about the industry with a specific focus on issues affecting hotel property investors, stories about our members and their activities, regular updates on the latest results from our proprietary Leading Indicator Profiler, and input from our sponsors.

A number of third party companies sponsor HOFTEL’s activities. These sponsors support the group with information and articles for the Hotel Owners Journal, but they are not members, and are encouraged not to advertise but rather to provide useful information and specialised advisory services to the members of HOFTEL.
HOFTEL runs hotel investor summits in Abu Dhabi and Bangkok. Halfway between a senior management seminar and an investment conference, these are niche events where we focus our sessions on hotel owner concerns and where the majority of speakers are from hotel real estate investors. Participants are senior and relevant.
